This front subframe was one of them. She was a bit crusty. Hit it with the needle scaler and then 36 grit sanding wheels. Slowly but surely I had fresh metal.
That was after the needle scaler hit it. Next was to sand.
This was in preparation for POR15. All in all I had about 2.5 hours in prep. After it was fully sanded I hit it with the POR prep spray, hosed it down and let it dry.
This was the end result. I’m quite happy and so is the Rally Laser.
Also we picked up our manual window regulators, a Fluidyne aluminum radiator, brand new non cruise throttle cable and other spares. Today has been great!

Looks great! Do you think the needle scaler did better than a twisted wire brush cup would? I ask because I think I’m going to go through a similar process with the rear subframe/ metal under my Camaro and while I have the cup I don’t have a needle scaler.

Yeah I definitely find the needle scaler to be the ultimate tool for knocking loose crust and stuff like that. The wire brush cup does do a good job though. You could always sand to bare and do POR15 also :)

Yeah this stuff is legit. It’s self leveling so just brush it on nice and thick and it always lays perfectly if the prep was good. The gloss is really nice and makes cleaning it easy at the car wash
